What is the Non Invasive Pain Procedure (NIPP™)?
The Non Invasive Pain Procedure (NIPP™), a safe option that has been cleared by the F.D.A., provides a non-drug treatment of acute and chronic pain, while increasing oxygenation of the blood and general circulation by approximately 50% – 60%. Our expert team of pain management specialists can evaluate you and determine if you’re a candidate for the NIP™ Procedure, based on your pain levels and current health situation. This procedure is usually exceptionally effective for a variety of severe back and spine pain, including discomfort in the lower back, neck and shoulders.
Recommended NIPP™ treatments will be determined after careful evaluation by your pain management physician, but most patients require 10 – 12 treatments to realize the maximum benefits of the procedure. As the first and only F.D.A.-cleared device currently available on the market to treat a variety of acute and chronic pain, consultation with one of our Minimally Invasive SpineCARE® physicians is necessary to discuss the process and determine if this may be an effective option for you.
Our Treatment Approach
The lightweight NIPP™ device is strategically placed behind the patient’s ear in a quick outpatient procedure that takes no more than 15 minutes. It’s suitable for all ages and nearly all physical conditions, providing non-drug pain relief that doesn’t compromise the liver. Here is how it works:
- The self-contained, battery-powered device, approximately the size of two dimes, provides continuous stimulation and enhances the release of natural endorphins by activating specific cranial nerves.
- This current gradually results in physiological changes to functional brain activities, including the natural activation of opiate receptors in the brain – Similar to how pain-killing drugs work, but without the potential for dependence or severe side effects.
- The NIPP™ device is small, light, comfortable and mobile, allowing patients to continue most of their regular activities without restriction. After four consecutive days of treatment, the device is designed to be easily removed and thrown away by the patient.
- Patients may continue experiencing pain relief for 3 – 7 days after removal of the device, and many report immediate alleviation of their pain. While others may require multiple sessions, national studies show that the majority of patients experience a significant reduction in pain.
